tarantula rocks

this entry is a short demo for the houston-area rock band, known as tarantula. these guys have released their own music (which is played on this clip), and also play cover music. if you're a fan of dio, black sabbath, iron maiden, tool, judas priest, ozzy osbourne, buck cherry, and other similar rock bands, then you'll really enjoy seeing these guys perform. as you can see, these guys can work up a crowd; yet remain down-to-earth, which is not commonly seen in their industry .

sorry, but i had to butcher the song, due to explicit lyrics. if you'd like to know more about this great band, or to listen to more of their great music, they can be found on-line, at http://www.tarantulaonline.com/. this footage was taken at time-out sports bar, during two shows. http://www.timeoutsportsbar.com/.

enjoy! also keep in mind that compression causes a loss of picture quality.

"nature"

this post is simple test. i am experimenting with a new shooting style (speed and aperature settings). there is a very nice park in my area (helen's park, league city, tx) where this footage was shot. this park stays beautiful, year-round. our warm climate allow new flowers to be planted every two weeks. i think the spider at the end of the film is especially neat. the bright colors on the underside of his body, resemble a smiling face.

"amazing"

this is a photo/video session which i created, with the help of a lovely assistant. this one was quite interesting, since i was not only the videographer, but also the photographer. "amazing," by aerosmith, was used in the preliminary stages of this video, and as progress was being made, i found it difficult to break away from this song. besides, the adjective (amazing) describes my subject. she is a pleasure to work with, is down-to-earth, and very personable. i hope you enjoy!

hi-tops & lolli-pops

Here is a brief trailer for my current project, tentatively titled "Hi-tops & Lolli-pops." I had a great time shooting this event, and working with this family. Everyone was so kind and appreciative. I hope you enjoy, and welcome any feedback. And, as always, thank you for looking. Hi speed connection is needed (buffering can take a while).

Videographer of the Month

April, 2008, I am appointed "Videographer of the Month," among my colleagues at HPVA.

HPVA (Houston Professional Videographers' Assn) is the Houston chapter of a national association, which developes and improves the skills and knowledge of its members in the video industry. Although I have been a member since 2006, I'm still considered one of the newer members. HPVA has been in existence for ten years, and welcomes all who wish to further their education in the video industry. Since joining, I have developed new skills and valuable contacts to which I can share my knowledge. There are many long time members whose work I admire, and are eager to provide help. Might you be new to this industry? If so, contact me or HPVA. We are always looking for new members. Visit http://www.houstonpva.org/ for more details.

Feb '08

Excited about my trip to Florida, I immediately returned back to Texas to work on my website. I finally have online demo clips, and a blog. I'm in the process of writing a script for my next project. Michelle, my sister-in-law, has offered to help. I'm looking forward to creating something beautiful for her and my brother.

Jan '08

In January, I went to Orlando, Florida, for Video '08. This is an annual seminar, which is organized by The 4Ever Group. The 4Ever Group (http://www.4evergroup.org/) provides resources, educational materials, and services to elevate the work habits and knowledge of today's video professionals. It was good to meet many of the people whose work I've admired for years, and to catch up with old acquaintances, which I've met in previous years. I learned some new ideas, and am excited to implement them into my projects. One of the things I learned was to create a blog...and look..here it is!

Of course I would not have been able to make it to Video '08 without the help of my family. My aunt & uncle allowed me to spend the week with them, while in Florida, which made this whole thing more affordable. My family back home, offered their support, as usual. Without family, I wouldn't have come this far, nor will I go any further without their help. Thanks, guys! And...the thoughtfulness of y'all during Christmas will never be forgotten. And of course, my brother, the photographer. He's not only taken my photo, but has allowed me permission to use it on my blog, and several others on my site. And, not to be forgotten, my niece's boyfriend, who created my website. He's done a fine job! Thanks, everyone!!!
